Cookie Experiment {10/365}

Vanilla pudding was the twist to this old classic recipe I tried today. I have to admit they didn't turn out as wonderful as I had hoped. The original recipe claimed to be award winning for the soft, chocolatey goodness. They were soft, they were chocolatey, and they were somewhat good. Not close to "award-winning" to me.

I like the fact that the vanilla pudding DOES make them soft. My husband explained them perfectly: "They are like biscuits with chocolate chips, not sweet enough." Perhaps next time I try this (which I plan to experiment a little with the recipe), I will use dark brown sugar, instead of light.

Sugar Snow {9/365}

I am re-reading a childhood favorite book series of mine: Little House on the Prarie by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Whenever I get to THE SUGAR SNOW chapter I crave pancakes because they talk about buckets of maple syrup. The other night I made breakfast for dinner just so we could have pancakes and syrup =)

This book is perfect for cold winter nights, snuggled up with a certain puppy, a blanket, and a glass of tea!

A Sweet Tip {8/365}

I am a sweet tea junkie. However, when I use to brew my own, I would drink it as fast as I could, preferable withing 24-hours. This was because of the 'stale' taste tea tends to get after sitting in the fridge. A few weeks ago a read about a 'cure' for this annoyance:
a pinch of baking soda.
I tried it, and lo-and-behold I drank 'stale-free' tea for 5 days =)
Add the pinch (not a big pinch either) when you're mixing the cold water into the tea. Chill, and enjoy!

Movie Night {7/365}

Tonight we had a movie night. We grab all the blankets throughout the house, pile them in the living room, and cuddle up while we watch a movie. Sometimes we make popcorn, sometimes we make malts. Sometimes-both!
Tonight we made malts. The movie of the night was The Land Before Time <3

That is all.

Lil' Man {5/365}

Today Sammy is 9 months! My baby boy is turning into a lil' man. The past 2 months especially has shown what his character and personality will be. I'm proud to say he is mostly a happy-go-lucky, jolly ol' good boy. He is goofy, loves to laugh, and loves even more to make others smile (especially if you are a pretty lady).
Though sometimes, I get a hint of anger, a bit of attitude, and maybe even some "talking back." All apart of growing up, and having a boy...or maybe just kids in general.
These past 9 months have been the best of my life! Watching him explore, learn, and develop is a joy that I nor my husband ever seem to get tired of.

i.WAIT {4/365}

i.WAIT:
i. WAIT for the laundry to dry.
i WAIT for dinner to be done.
i WAIT for the warmth of Spring.
i WAIT for the right moment.
i WAIT for a good deal.
i WAIT for my hair to grow.
i WAIT for the socks to miraculously pair themselves.
i WAIT for a Creative Web Design class to open.
i WAIT forever.

VaVa Voom {3/365}

Sammy must of had this hidden somewhere, because I was sure I had thrown it away and hadn't seen it for months. It turned up on Sunday with him waving it around the living room. He'd torn off a corner, nothing but a pair of pink panties. He is definitely a Lewis! (1/3/10)

Book Exchange Day {2/365}

There is a lovely Book Exchange in Jacksonville, NC, right down the street from where we live. I visit every couple months to bring books in for an in-store credit, and usually strike a good deal. This is what I found today. The book I am most excited about is the Cupcake Fun! By Wilton. It's a perfect find because I plan to make cupcakes for my son's first birthday party. Cupcakes are a lot easier to make, hand out, and clean up at parties, in my opinion. Inside there is even a horse cupcake, which fits perfect for the current theme we have in mind for his first birthday party: western.
